Jomo Kwame Sundaram is a Malaysian economist and the current United Nations Assistant Secretary-General for Economic Development in the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs. He has authored over 35 monographs and edited over 50 books, primarily on Southeast Asian political economy. In 2007, he received the Wassily Leontief Prize for Advancing the Frontiers of Economic Thought. He graduated with a degree in economics from Yale University, and holds a Masters of Public Administration and a PhD from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.

Pete Teo

Originally from Sabah, Pete is a well-known Malaysian singer-songwriter. He is famous for producing ‘Here In My Home’ in 2008, a production that featured many Malaysian personalities and celebrities. The aim of this project was to promote national unity in Malaysia, using a music video directed by Yasmin Ahmad and Ho Yuhang. Pete Teo is also one of the main figures behind the 15Malaysia project, producing all 15 of the short films. This project became a huge success in Malaysia, and was shown all over the world. Columbia University also had a showing of 15Malaysia earlier this year.

Sharon Bakar

Sharon Bakar is from Britain, and is a self-proclaimed bibliophile. She trains ELT (English Language Training) teachers and teaches creative writing as a freelancer. Sharon also often writes about books, and her blog contains many of her thoughts about almost anything. Sharon is also passionate about education.

Lim Soon Heng

Lim Soon Heng holds two Master’s degrees in English Literature from the USA, and has taught in the US for many years before returning to Malaysia. He is also active in theater, and while living in the US, undertook acting roles with Rick’s College’s Drama Department, Duke University’s Drama Department, and The Triangle Opera Company. In Malaysia, he is also no stranger to theatre, and has performed in many productions staged at KLPac.

Fahmi Fadzil

Fahmi Fadzil is popularly known as both a performer and a writer. He has been active in theater since his days as a college student, and is now very much involved in community arts projects, including programs and projects under the Five Arts Centre. He also hosts The Fairly Current Show on PopTeeVee. Fahmi Fadzil is a principal coordinator for the wayang experimentation group Projeck Wayang, and is a columnist and contributor for various Malaysian publications like KLue, TheSun, and online portals like Kakiseni and TheNutGraph.

Khairy Jamaluddin

Khairy Jamaluddin is leader of the Barisan Nasional and Umno Youth Wings, and Member of Parliament for Rembau. He graduated with a philosophy, politics and economics degree from Oxford University, and holds a Master’s of Legal and Political Theory from University College London.

Haris Ibrahim

Haris Ibrahim is a lawyer and activist. His blog, The People’s Parliament, started as a project to hold politicians accountable. Haris is also a pioneer of the Saya Anak Bangsa Malaysia initiative.

Wong Chin Huat

Wong Chin Huat is a political scientist and activist. He graduated with a degree in economics from Universiti Malaya, and a Masters in Psychology from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia; he is presently completing his PhD in politics, focusing on recent West Malaysian electoral politics, at the University of Essex. Chin Huat teaches journalism at the Monash University Malaysia Campus, and writes frequently on Malaysian politics. He is also a spokesperson for the Coalition for Free and Fair Elections (Bersih), and chairs the Writers Alliance for Media Independence.
